Amazing experience
The food tour with Aki was more than a tour, it was an experience. Out of all the tours I did on my trip to Japan, his was the best! Very personalized and unique, as well as informational and fun.
The food is 10/10. I tried foods I never would have tried on my own, and some varieties of foods I was more familiar with but different, like a chicken based ramen that was so rich and delicious. I surprised myself by the variety of sashimi that I actually liked, as I’m normally a tuna and salmon girl. Come hungry because there is a lot to eat. I was stuffed by the end of the night.
I joined the tour as a solo traveler, my tour was a small group of 4, but Aki brought us all together and showed us such a good time that the 4 of us ended up hanging out after the tour to explore a bit more.
Aki answered all our random questions, shared some great cultural tidbits with us, and you can really tell how passionate he is about his tour and his country. I would recommend this tour to all my friends.

What I ’ll do
LET'S GET OUT OF THE TOURIST AREA where it is overpriced and crowded with tourists!
This tour focuses on Ueno, which is not as crowded as Shibuya, Shinjuku and is less touristy. It’s popular with the Japanese for eating and drinking at any time. I'm going to take you to popular taverns and restaurants for ONLY LOCALS (NO TOURISTS!!) where the staff speaks only Japanese. I will order signature dishes and please ask me any questions.
I’ll discuss not only Japanese food and drinks but also culture, traditions and history, which will be beneficial for the rest of your stay in Japan for sure!
We will visit several restaurants/taverns/bar in total, where you will sample sashimi, grilled fish and skewered meat, etc. You will also have the opportunity to try UNIQUE Japanese alcoholic drinks! (5 or more different type of drinks)
You'll be able to experience what Japanese taverns are like. After visiting these three taverns, we will end the tour at a great Ramen shop that is popular with locals.
During the tour, you will be able to talk to other travelers and share information about Japan. It will be great to exchange information from the same viewpoint.
At the end of the tour, I will explain which train station you need to go, depending on where you go.

You are going to have a small souvenir porcelain cup, using one on the tour.
Where I’ll be
We’ll meet In front of Starbucks Atre Ueno, Taito ward. Everyone goes to Shinjuku where is good to go to luxury restaurants.
However, reasonable & nice taste ones don’t exist. (Rent is very high, so it’s impossible!) That’s why I pick this area because here is famous for Japanese foodie as lower price, but good quality!
I’m going to take you to popular bars for ONLY LOCALS. (NO TOURISTS!!) I will order a signature dish there for you. After we leave restaurants, we are heading to a great ramen store!
